Mobile Gasoline Station Safety Protocols
Preparation
Before starting, ensure the station is positioned on level ground, away from ignition sources like open flames, sparks, or hot surfaces. Deploy stabilizers to prevent tipping and connect the grounding cable to a metal stake driven into the ground—this dissipates static electricity, a critical step to avoid fires.
Pre-Operation Checklist:
- Inspect all hoses for cracks or wear
- Verify emergency shut-off valve functions properly
- Ensure the fuel tank cap is sealed tightly to prevent vapor leaks
- Check that all safety signage is visible and legible
- Confirm fire extinguisher is charged and accessible
Operational Procedures
During operation, no smoking and prohibit the use of cell phones or devices that could generate sparks within 15 meters of the station. Only trained personnel should handle the dispensing nozzle.
Monitor the pump pressure and flow rate; if irregularities occur (e.g., sudden pressure drops), stop operation immediately and inspect for leaks.
Post-Operation & Maintenance
After each use:
- Retract hoses neatly and secure them properly
- Place the nozzle in its designated holder
- Close the main shut-off valve completely
- Check for any signs of leaks or damage
- Clean up any spills immediately with absorbent materials
Emergency Response
Keep these items readily available:
- Class B fire extinguisher
- First-aid kit
- Spill response supplies (absorbents, containment booms)
- Emergency contact numbers
- Safety data sheets
Ensure all operators are trained in emergency procedures, including how to use safety equipment and contact emergency services. Maintain documentation of all inspections and training records.
