Equipment Inspection Checklist
Regular inspection of liquid conveying equipment ensures operational efficiency and prevents failures. Follow this checklist for comprehensive equipment assessment.
External Condition
- Inspect for visible damage, deformation, or leakage
- Check outer casing for cracks, dents, or other damage
- Examine seals at joints for aging or deformation
- Look for signs of corrosion or chemical degradation
- Verify all safety labels are legible and intact
Pipeline Connections
- Follow fluid flow path and inspect each connection
- Check joints for tightness and any looseness
- Inspect pipes for kinks, blockages, or ruptures
- Examine joints connecting piping to storage containers
- Verify proper support and alignment of all piping
Power Supply System
- Confirm power supply circuit is functioning properly
- Check power cord for damage, aging, or loose insulation
- Test power switch functionality
- Verify proper grounding and electrical safety
- Check circuit breakers and overload protection devices
Pump Operation
- Listen for unusual operating sounds
- Observe pump vibration levels
- Check inlet and outlet pressures for normal operation
- Monitor pump temperature during operation
- Check for leaks around pump seals and gaskets
Liquid Quality & Level
- Check liquid level in storage container
- Inspect liquid for deterioration or impurities
- Check for unusual odors indicating contamination
- Verify proper viscosity and consistency
- Ensure liquid compatibility with equipment materials
Before beginning any inspection, ensure the equipment is properly shut down and isolated from power sources. Follow lockout-tagout procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
