Hazardous Materials Tank Marking Requirements
- Hazard Classification Labels: Must prominently display the UN number for gasoline (UN 1203) and the flammable liquid symbol (♦ red diamond with flame icon). These alert handlers to fire/explosion risks. Placement: both sides + front/back for maximum visibility.
-
Capacity & Weight Markings: Must include:
- Maximum capacity (liters/gallons)
- Gross weight (full)
- Tare weight (empty)
- Operational Instructions: Required warnings like "Keep Away from Heat" or "Ground Before Filling". May include emergency contacts. Some regions require certification numbers and inspection dates.
-
Placement Guidelines:
- Flat, unobstructed surfaces
- Free from rust/dents/dirt
- Minimum 100mm height for hazard symbols
- Comply with regional standards (ADR/DOT)
- Maintenance Critical: Replace faded/damaged labels immediately. Regular inspections required to maintain compliance throughout tank's service life.
Note: All markings must remain legible and visible under normal operating conditions. International transport requires harmonized standard compliance.
