Fuel Tank Storage Guidelines
1 Thorough Cleaning of Tank Interior
- Drain any remaining diesel in the tank and rinse the interior with a special cleaning agent
- Remove any remaining oil, dirt, impurities, and moisture
- After cleaning, open all valves to ensure complete drying
- Use ventilation to accelerate drying if possible
- Ensure no liquid remains on the interior surfaces
2 Proper Fuel Handling
- For retained fuel: choose stable diesel and add fuel stabilizer
- For drained fuel: inspect outlet and pipes for residual oil
- Wipe clean with a clean cloth to prevent dust adhesion
- Close all outlet valves after handling
3 Strengthen Sealing Measures
- Inspect and replace worn seals on covers and valves
- Seal fuel filler port and vent with sealing film or special plugs
- Apply rust-preventive oil to moving parts (valve handles, connectors)
4 Storage Environment Selection
- Store in dry, well-ventilated area away from heat sources
- Protect from direct sunlight and rain
- Place on flat, firm surface with wood/rubber mats
- Construct shelter if storing outdoors
5 Regular Inspection Schedule
- Inspect regularly for rust, deformation, or seal degradation
- Check for moisture or foreign matter in sealed areas
- Exercise moving parts to prevent sticking
- Re-dry if necessary
Note: Following these guidelines will help maintain your fuel tank in optimal condition during storage periods.
