How to Clean the Interior of a Petrol Tank

2026-02-10 Leave a message
  • Drain Residual Fuel and Depressurize

First, completely drain any remaining fuel from the Petrol Tank and collect it in a dedicated sealed container to avoid fuel waste and environmental pollution.

Then, close the Petrol Tank's inlet and outlet fuel lines and allow it to stand for a period of time to release residual pressure, preventing fuel splashing during cleaning.

Simultaneously, check the Petrol Tank valves and connections for leaks, ensuring a safe foundation for subsequent cleaning operations.

  • Disassemble External Accessories and Pre-treatment

Disassemble the external pipes, sensors, and mounting components of the Petrol Tank, marking them for easy reassembly.

Use high-pressure air to blow away dust and impurities from the Petrol Tank surface to prevent external contaminants from entering during cleaning.

Remove the filter at the Petrol Tank inlet separately for preliminary cleaning to remove surface oil and particles, preventing filter clogging and ensuring effective cleaning.

  • Use a suitable cleaning agent for circulation cleaning.

Inject a neutral cleaning solvent specifically designed for metal Petrol Tanks, avoiding the use of highly corrosive agents that could damage the inner walls of the Petrol Tank.

After sealing the Petrol Tank inlet, gently shake the Petrol Tank to ensure the cleaning agent fully contacts all parts of the inner wall, dissolving oil, gum, and deposits.

After standing for a period of time, drain the cleaning agent containing impurities, rinsing repeatedly two to three times until the drained cleaning agent is free of visible dirt.

  • Drying and reinstallation inspection.

Pass dry, high-pressure gas into the Petrol Tank to accelerate the evaporation of residual cleaning agent and moisture, ensuring the inside of the Petrol Tank is completely dry to prevent residual moisture from mixing with fuel and affecting its use.

After checking that the inner walls of the Petrol Tank are free of residual impurities and corrosion, reinstall the filter, pipes, and sensors according to the disassembly markings.

After ensuring a secure connection, perform a sealing test. If there are no leaks, the cleaning operation is complete.
